After Breakfast, proceed to visit St.Thomas Cathedral Basilica, Mylapore, Chennai. National Shrine of Saint Thomas is also known as San Thome Church. It was built in the 16th century by Portuguese explorers, over the tomb of Saint Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. This church is one of the only three known churches in the world built over the tomb of an apostle of Jesus. Later visit Marina Beach. Later transfer to Chennai Railway station. Early morning, arrive at Velankanni railway station and transfer to hotel. After breakfast, proceed to visit various churches in the compound. Velankanni has one of the country's biggest Catholic pilgrimage centres, the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. Devoted to Our Lady of Good Health, it is popularly known as the "Lourdes of the East". Annually, 20 million pilgrims flock to the shrine from all over India and abroad. No vehicles are provided in Velankanni for church visit. Overnight stay at Velankanni.
Spend the morning by visiting various churches to pray to Mother Mary and her son Jesus. Also visit famous Velankanni beach adjoining to the church. Later transfer to Velankanni railway station. Velankanni – Thrissur (Kerala) by train Overnight in train.
After breakfast, visit Lourdes Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Kerala. The main attraction is an underground Shrine. Visit Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours, also known as ‘Puthan pally’ (new Church) built in Indo-Gothic style. The main attraction is the 260 feet high Bible Tower at the rear of Church which is the tallest Church Tower in Asia. Visit Saint Euphrasia Shine. Saint Euphrasia Eluvathingal, was an Indian Carmelite nun of the Syro-Malabar Church, which is an Eastern Catholic Church in Kerala. She was canonised as a saint by Pope Francis on 23 November 2014. Proceed to visit shrine of St. Mariam Thresia Chiramel. She became known for receiving frequent visions and ecstasies as well as even receiving the stigmata which she kept well-guarded. She had been involved in apostolic work her entire life and pushed for strict adherence to the rule of her order amongst her fellow religious. . Her final words were: "Jesus, Mary and Joseph; I give you my heart and my soul" – she then closed her eyes and died. Mother Mariam Theresia is the founder of the Congregation of Holy Family sisters and she was canonized on 13 October 2019. Overnight stay at Chalakudi.
After early Breakfast, drive to Malayattor. St. Thomas is believed to have landed in Kerala in AD 50 and was engaged in evangelical activity. Oral tradition says that while travelling through Malayattor, he faced with hostile natives, he fled to the hilltop where he is said to have remained in prayer and that he left his foot prints on one of the rocks. According to beliefs, a cross formed on one of the rocks, upon his touch. It is traditionally believed that St. Thomas used to make the Sign of the Cross on the rock, kiss it and pray at Kurisumudi. Says that a miraculous golden cross appeared at that particular spot. Pilgrims going up the hill to call out incessantly "Ponnum Kurishu Muthappo, Ponmala Kayattom", meaning "O Patriarch of the Golden Cross! Climb we shall, this golden hill’. Later transfer to Bharananganam. On arrival, visit Saint Alphonsa Shrine at Bharananganam. Saint Alphonsa is the first woman of Indian origin to be canonised as a saint by the Catholic Church and the first canonised saint of the Syro-Malabar Church. Thousands of people converge on the small town of Bharananganam when they celebrate the feast of Saint Alphonsa. Her tomb has been designated as a pilgrimage site with numerous miracles being reported by pious devotees. Overnight stay at Pala.
After Breakfast, proceed to visit Niranam church. It is an ancient Church of the Malankara Orthodox which was founded by St.Thomas in A.D 54. Thereafter visit Arthunkal church, Fort Kochi, St. Francis church, Mattanchery, Marine Drive & Edapally Church. Overnight stay at Cochin.
After Breakfast, visit St.Philomenas Church Koonammavu. The church has become a pilgrim center since the canonised Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of CMI and CMC congregations died and was buried here. The church is being visited by people irrespective of caste and creed to offer prayers to St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias who was beatified in 1986 and canonised in 2014. The prayer room, the room in which he died are being visited by people and his personal belongings are kept in a museum. Later proceed to visit Vallarpadam Church. Enjoy the evening with shopping etc. Overnight stay at Cochin.
